Squeakin' Pups is a home-based rattery in San Diego. Our goal is to spread the love of rats through providing well-socialized and healthy pet rats to loving new homes. We also strive to educate new adopters on proper rat care so they can provide the quality of life we want for all of our little Squeakin' Pups. Every one of our adult Bucks and Does here at Squeakin' Pups is owned by a specific member of our household. That rat gets individual care and attention from their person during its entire life in our rattery. (Some are favorites of the whole family that are fought over!) For us, they are not "just rats," they are members of the family! Every litter we produced is socialized not only with the adults and children in our home, but also with rats of varying ages and sizes to make transitions into any new home easier. Every baby spends at least 2 weeks of its life living with babies from other litters, to ensure that any two rats from us will be bonded to one another as close as siblings. Adopters can select from any of our available babies and feel confident that the rats will already be closely bonded and happy living together. Squeakin' Pups has been breeding since February 2016. We have made it a priority to always be a positive presence in the rat community, both locally and globally. Our motto is “We are always here to help!”™️ In our efforts for this we help educate adopters, make proper rat care attainable, and promote the wonderful pets that rats make whenever possible. In addition to our rat breeding we also sell hammocks and other rat accessories in our Etsy shop, host a quarterly raffle for a single Critter Nation cage to promote better rat housing nationally, and a yearly Holiday giveaway of a pair of pet rats with a full cage set-up for children in our local southern CA area. Most of what we do is made possible by donations from our fans and lots of loving support from the wonderful rat community nationwide. We could not do what we do without them! Our business model is based on T.H.I.S. (Trust Honesty Integrity Sincerity) for ourselves and T.H.A.T. (Temperament Health Aesthetics Time) for our rats. We very much try to live up to all of those principles in all we do. T.H.I.S. has always been our goal from the very beginning, to be a rattery that adopters can feel confident in. We have backed all of our rats with our Rat Guarantee from day one and follow up with our adopters after they take their rats home to ensure if we are needed, we are there. We love all our rats, but we also love our adopters. Adopting with us makes you a part of our extended Squeakin' Pups family. Having T.H.I.S. can only get you so far without a good dose of T.H.A.T. though. Temperament and Health are absolute musts for breeding rats, and all ratteries worth anything will be including that in what they do. We also have a concerted focus on listening to our adopters about their own sense of Aesthetics - what is beautiful in a rat to them. When we are able, we will breed towards those things that are desired and make them as available as we can. Time is for how much time we get with the rats we love - which is never enough! We track all of our litters as well as we can to promote not only healthy lines, but lines that will live the longest possible time. Being relatively new to breeding, veterans having started pre-2000, this is something we will still have a long way to achieve, but is a primary goal for us as a rattery. There are lots more things we hope to do in the future to promote awareness about pet rats, their care, and the positive impact they can have in anyone's life.
