Rat Meet -N- Greet
Can I meet the rats before I decide if I want to pay a deposit/adopt?
I'm not sure if rats are a good fit for us or not. Are we able to meet and discuss them?
I can't get rats right now, but I would really love to come snuggle some. Is that possible?
These are a few of the inquiries I have gotten over the years that have prompted me to make rat meetings available. I feel that rats are very loving animals with therapeutic value to many. Even if you are not able to adopt, being able to have access to them can be hugely beneficial. With this in mind, I am opening up one day a week for anyone who may want to come out and meet some of our rats in person.
This page will give details on the processes and procedures, along with some possibilities, for the meetings. Please read it all the way through before reaching out. I will expect you to know all items listed here when you reach out.

How much does it cost?
- 30 minute meeting, (2) handlers: $40
- Additional 15 minutes: $10
- Additional handler: $10
Can I adopt during this meeting?
Not unless agreed upon in advance.
In many cases the rats that are brought to the meeting will NOT be adoptable because they will be either our own rats for the rattery or scheduled for adoption by others at a later date. If you want the option to take home rats the day we meet, you will need to become an approved adopter prior to scheduling and meet the same requirements as all my adopters, which will include any wait list times.

Do I still need to fill out the adoption forms if I want the option to adopt?
Yes. You must be an approved adopter to take home any babies, therefore, you must be approved for adoption prior to scheduling a meet-up if you want the option to take some of the rats home with you.
Will the fees for the meeting count towards my adoption fees if I decide to take rats home?
Yes, if you have scheduled a meeting time with the option to adopt during the meeting, any fees you have paid ahead will go towards the adoption fees for the rats you take home. If your fees paid are MORE than what you owe for the rats you are taking home, or if you choose not to take any rats home, there are no refunds on fees or deposits. If you want to meet different rats at another time, you will have to pay the fees/deposits for the new date.
Am I able to choose which rats I get to meet at the meeting?
I cannot guarantee that you will be able to meet any particular rats, but I do try to accommodate requests when possible. There are times when I have many meetings scheduled and our babies are constantly changing in availability due to new litters becoming available and other babies going to new homes. During those parts of the year the available rats you see when scheduling may all be in new homes by the time your scheduled date arrives. Any requests that are still available will be honored.
